French Art Deco Sculpture on Marble Base (1930s)

This wonderful Art Deco sculpture of a leaping gazelle on a marble base is stamped on the inner leg with 'Made In France.' The gazelle, which has been manufactured from a heavy grey metal (probably spelter), has great detail and a good patina and stands on a rectangular, mottled marble base. Although there's no signature or markings, I'm convinced (due to research), that this piece is by the renowned French Art Deco sculptor 'Irene Rochard', who was known for his prolific work in metal and bronze animal sculptures. Most of his work was signed on the marble base and not on the figure. Other than a few chips to the corners of the marble base it's in good condition. It measures 16cm in height, 29cm in length, 9cm in width and weighs 1785grams.
