If you’ve been lucky enough to dine at Gramadoelas (which closed in July 2013) over the past 46 years of its existence (they opened in Hillbrow in 1967), you will know all about the ambiance and atmosphere of the museum-like interior of the restaurant, and the fine dining experience with tastes from all over South Africa and further north. With celebrity guests such as Queen Elizabeth II, Nelson Mandela, Danny Glover, Thabo & Zanele Mbeki, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Charlize Theron, Elton John, Catherine Deneuve, David Rockefeller, Nick Nolte, Morgan Freeman, Denzel Washington, Will Smith, Randy Crawford and pretty much the entire South African music and theatre scene, as well as a few dozen other members of several Royal Houses and from the world’s and SA’s political and diplomatic elite, provenance of the items is without a shadow of a doubt.
Who knows which famous person might have used these items before?
