An account of the first traverse of Africa from south to north.
Ewart Scott Grogan, in order to prove his seriousness in intent to marry one Gertrude Watt, a marriage that her step-father would not allow, set out to become the first person recorded to have walked from the Cape to Cairo, an accomplishment said step-father would agree proved his worth in the matter of marrying Gertrude Watt. Grogan accomplished the feat, despite the attentions of wild animals, cannibals and other perils of Africa, and married Gertrude Watt, settling in Kenya. He died in Cape Town in 1967.
