Full Many a Glorious Morning by Lawrence G. Green is a highly collectible work of classic Africana travel literature and an excellent example of mid-20th century Southern African writing. Published in Cape Town by Howard Timmins in 1968, this first edition captures Green's evocative reflections on journeys undertaken by rail and road through several Southern African countries. Renowned for his ability to blend historical insight, travel narrative, folklore, and vivid observation, Lawrence G. Green remains one of the most respected voices in South African literary history.
Full Many a Glorious Morning explores landscapes, people, cultures, and memories encountered along the highways and lesser-travelled routes of Southern Africa. Green's writing style is warm, nostalgic, and richly descriptive, making the book appealing not only to collectors of Africana but also to readers interested in African exploration, colonial-era travel accounts, and historical regional literature. His observations preserve a fascinating snapshot of Southern Africa during a period of social and political transition, adding important historical context to the narrative.
The striking period dust jacket artwork further enhances the appeal of this edition, especially for collectors of vintage Africana publishing. Lawrence G. Green's books continue to enjoy strong demand among collectors, particularly first editions issued by Howard Timmins. Full Many a Glorious Morning fits well into collections focused on African travel writing, South African history, Rhodesiana, and classic exploration narratives.
An increasingly difficult title to find in complete first-edition form, particularly with its original dust jacket, Full Many a Glorious Morning remains an attractive and desirable addition to any serious Africana library.
