ON AUCTION IS A VINTAGE JAPANESE KATANA SWORD. IT IS A FULL-TANG SWORD WHICH MEANS THE BLADE EXTENDS AS A SINGLE PIECE FULLY THROUGH THE HANDLE. THIS PROVIDE EXTRA STRENTH AND DURABILITY. IT HAS A SHARP SINGLE EDGED BLADE.
IT HAS A BRASS OVAL SHAPED GUARD AND A BRASS POMMEL. IT COMES WITH A LEATHER SCABBARD CUSTOMARY TO OLDER VINTAGE KATANAS. IT HAS SOME TRADITIONAL JAPANESE SCRIPT ETCHED ON THE BLADE WHICH TRANSLATES TO SPECIAL EDITION OR SPECIAL ISSUE.
THIS SWORD HAS SOME PATINA VISIBLE ON BRASS GUARD SHOWING VINTAGE AGE. IT ALSO HAS SOME RUST NEAR BLADE TIP AND ON BLADE TANG BUT BUYER SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET RID OFF THIS WITH FINE WIRE WOOL AND ALCOHOL. THIS SWORD IS WELL CONSTRUCTED AND IS ONE OF THE BETTER KATANA SWORDS I HAVE COME ACROSS IN SOUTH AFRICA.
