A fascinating record including a letter conveying the Queen's approval of the annexation to the new Administrator of the Transvaal - Theophilus Shepstone; correspondence detailing petitions supporting and opposing the Annexation; A description of an interview with a number of "Native" chiefs on the Queen's birthday on 24 May 1877 and Transvaal Administrator Shepstone's discussions with Paul Kruger and Dr. Jorissen upon their departure to England in to protest against the annexation of the Transvaal.
