![]() | Further Under the Duvet by Marian Keyes is a delightful read that is difficult to categorise. This volume contains both non-fiction and fiction. As the author herself says, “everything in the non-fiction pieces in this book really did happen to me, (yes, even turning forty) but occasionally I've changed people's names to protect them (and sometimes me.)”
Further under the Duvet is the follow-up to Under the Duvet, Marian Keyes' first volume of journalism. The term ‘journalism' should be taken in a loose sense: most of the articles included are humorous autobiographical pieces about subjects like the author’s love of make-up and her great fear of being trapped on a bus in a foreign country with forty Irish people (it's the singing .) There is also a description of the author’s encounter with a Highhveld storm and the consequences on her hairdo. Several more serious pieces deal with feminism, mediums and charity trips Marian Keyes made to Ethiopia and Russia. As a special treat, also included are seven short stories. Hilarious and poignant, down-to-earth and moving, Marian Keyes’ second volume of journalism and previously unpublished writing is the modern woman's perfect companion. “Her honesty and humour have you laughing out loud.” (From Heat review).
