An attractive and highly collectible original oil painting by renowned South African landscape artist Gabriel Cornelis de Jongh (19132004), one of the countrys most recognised traditional landscape painters and the son of celebrated artist Tinus de Jongh.
This charming Cape landscape depicts a traditional whitewashed Cape Dutch farm cottage set against a dramatic mountain backdrop, a subject for which Gabriel de Jongh became particularly well known. The painting captures the atmosphere and tranquillity of the Western Cape through soft mountain tones, warm earth colours and confident textured brushwork.
The work is signed by the artist and measures approximately 25cm x 30cm excluding frame.
The painting has recently been professionally conservation framed using premium Tru Vue UltraVue UV70 anti-reflective glass, significantly enhancing visual clarity while providing UV protection. The original decorative frame has been retained and beautifully restored, resulting in an exceptional presentation piece ready for display.
