Gallienus was joint Roman Emperor with his father 253 to 260 AD. Gallienus ruled alone from 260 to 268 AD. During his rule there was a crisis called "The Crisis of the Third Century" which nearly caused the collapse of the Roman empire. This was due to the combined pressures of invasion, civil war, plague, and economic depression.
