This hand painted Gaudy Welch cup and saucer was manufactured between 1820 and 1860. I is in excellent condition for its age. There are no markings, but it is typical of Gaudy Welch. There are no chips or cracks or crazing. This type of antique comes up very seldom. This style of pottery was made in England for the American market, and because of the style of hand painting, the term was coined "Gaudy Welch".
