GemID Package for 5 stones! Starting at R1!

This is a service to confirm or establish the identity of 5 gemstones by measuring the specific gravity (SG) and refractive index (RI), where applicable, of the stone(s). The stones are sent to me, I do the measurements and send them back with a report.

How?

The RI and SG are the 2 most important indicators of gem identity (although not the only). I've purchased the equipment to measure the RI and SG of the gemstones I have for sale.

 Gem Data and Report

The weight (ct), measurements, specific gravity (SG) and refractive index (RI), where applicable, of each stone is measured and provided in a report to the buyer.

Shipping & Service Time

• You are responsible for shipping costs BOTH ways. Please indicate your choice of courier/shipping in the buyer's note.
• Insurance is highly recommended but optional. No responsibility is accepted for loss of items by postal services.
• Packages will be opened in the presence of an independent 3rd party to verify contents
• Please allow a week to complete all testing (from receipt of items to shipping back to you).
• There is no expiry date on this item.

• LOOSE gemstones only. No settings.
• The SG of any gem/crystal can be measured regardless of shape/size/faceting.
• RI requires gems to be at least partially trans-parent. Completely opaque gems won't do. 
• Measuring RI requires at least 1 flat surface so only faceted and cab gems.
• The RI of some gems such as zircon cannot be measured with a critical angle refractometer. In this case  Dr W Hanneman's R-2K refractometer will be used.
• This services does not indicate anything about treatment that the stone may have had.
• Refunds will only occur if no SG and no RI can be obtained. If either SG or RI or both can be measured, no monies are refundable.

• This is for the determination of the SG and RI of 5 gemstones only. 1 Gemstone=1 Report.
