Generic used Lens Hood specifically designed for use with the NIKKOR AF-P DX 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR Lens lens.

Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.  Designed to prevent stray light from entering the lens in order to keep unwanted glare from affecting your photographs.
