Genuine Old SAR/SAS Railway Lantern - Lenses intact - Nice and Rusty!

 OLD SOUTH AFRICAN RAILWAY LANTERN

With red and clear lenses intact

Dusty and rusty!

The lantern is solid and heavy, made of steel and painted black.

It has a few dents,  lots of dirt and rust, especially on the inside, and plenty of character.

Estimated to date to the 1940's or 1950's.

Both the red and clear lenses are intact however the white light is slightly bent out if its frame please see picture.

"SAR/SAS" is stamped on both lenses.

What make this item rare over the others is that this one still contains the paraffin carrier in side that lights up the lamp

The lantern measures 32cm tall excluding the handle and the base is 16 cm square.
