GENUINE TESTED 1,38CT ORANGE SPESSARTINE AFRICAN GARNET GEMSTONE PASSED MAGNETIC TEST FOR GARNET!
STUNNING 1,38 CARAT ORANGE SPESSARTINE AFRICAN GARNET GEMSTONE WITH A BEAUTIFUL OVAL CUT. PASSED ALL TESTS FOR GARNET INCLUDING THE MAGNETIC TEST! COMES WITH A BEAUTIFUL PERSPEX PRESENTATION CASE AND VELVET BAG. THIS PARTICULAR STONE WAS BOUGHT FROM A SELLER IN BANGKOK THAILAND IN 2011 WITH THE COUNTRY OF ORIGEN INDICATED AS AFRICA MOST PROPABLY MOZAMBIQUE. IT HAS A VVS (EYE CLEAR) CLARITY WHICH MEANS IT IS FREE OF INCLUSIONS AS SEEN WITH THE NAKED EYE WHICH IT APPEARS TO BE. IT WAS ALSO SOLD AS AN UNHEATED NATURAL GEMSTONE. IT IS A REAL GARNET GEMSTONE AS IT PASSED ALL THE TESTS I COULD PERFORM: PASSED THE SCRATCH TEST: IT SCRATCHES GLASS IT IS HARDER THAN GLASS. (MOHS HARDNESS GLASS 5.5-6.5 GARNET 6.5-7.5) PASSED THE MAGNETIC TEST: EASILY PICKED UP BY A STRONG MAGNET! Garnets are the only common transparent gemstones that show a Pick Up response to a strong magnet. They are more magnetic than other transparent gems because they generally contain higher concentrations of paramagnetic iron (up to 35% iron oxide by wt.). PASSED ELECTRON UV LIGHT EMISSION TEST: NO UV REACTION. Most garnets due to some iron content that stops fluorescence shows an inert or no UV reaction. The only garnets that exhibit fluorescents are some green garnets such as tsavorite may fluoresce a weak orange in long UV and weak yellow in short UV. GLASS AND ALL QUARTZ VARIETIES DOES NOT SHOW A UV AFFECT. (THE UV LIGHT HIT THE ELECTRONS. THEY JUMP AND FALL BACK. THEY RADIATE LIGHT OF A CERTAIN WAVELENGTH WHEN THEY DO WHICH IS SPECIFIC TO EACH ELEMENT IN THE MINERAL. THIS IS CALLED FLUORESCENCE. ONLY 10% OF GEMSTONES EXHIBIT A FLUORESCENCE AFFECT LIKE RUBIES, SAPPHIRE, TOPAZ, OPALS AND DIAMONDS. GLASS AND ALL NATURAL QUARTZ VARIETIES DOES NOT SHOW A UV AFFECT.) PASSED THE THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY TEST: TESTED THE THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY WITH A MIZAR PRESTIGE SERIES 2 DIAMOND TESTER. IT MOVED UP THE LADDER A LITTLE FROM STANDARD LEVEL 3 TO LEVEL 4. GARNETS FALL BELOW QUARTZ REGARDING THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY AND A LEVEL OF 4 IS THE NORM FOR THIS TESTER. (WITH THIS TESTER GLASS MAKES NO MOVEMENT.)

DISCLAIMER: I AM NO GEMSTONE EXPERT. THESE GEMSTONES BELONGED TO A FAMILY MEMBER THAT HAS PASSED AWAY. HE COLLECTED GEMSTONES DURING THE EARLY TWENTY FIRST CENTURY MANY WERE BOUGHT ON EBAY AND OTHERS BY TRAVELLING TO OTHER COUNTRIES. I HAVE TRIED TO VERIFY AS FAR AS POSSIBLE ANY STATEMENTS OR CLAIMS BY DOING SOME RESEARCH AND PRELIMERARY TESTS ON EACH GEMSTONE.
GARNET: Garnet has been used as a gemstone for over 5000 years. It has been found in the jewelry of many Egyptian burials and was the most popular gemstone of Ancient Rome. It is a beautiful gem that is usually sold without treatment of any kind. It is also durable and common enough that it can be used in jewelry at a relatively low cost. Garnet continues as a popular gemstone today. Most people will think of a red gemstone when they hear the name "garnet" because they are not aware that garnet occurs in a variety of colors. However, gem-quality garnets occur in every color - with red being the most common and blue garnets being especially rare. Red almandine is the red garnet most often found in jewelry because it is abundant and inexpensive. Pyrope and spessartine are reddish and orange garnets that are commonly encountered in jewelry for the same reason. African garnets of various colors: orange spessartine (Mozambique), yellow mali (Mali), red almandine (Madagascar), green tsavorite (Tanzania), and purple rhodolite (Mozambique). In the past two decades, Africa has become a major source of excellent beautiful garnets with great color and clarity.
