Georgian Silver 'Purse' Vinaigrette (1827)
This wonderful, very early, small, Georgian, silver vinaigrette in the form of a rectangular purse, was made in 1827 in Birmingham, England by 'Thomas Newbold' (TN). The lid is beautifully decorated to look like a purse with its strap and is engraved with floral detail around a small blank cartouche and the hinged interior pierced grill is finely engraved with leaves on a branch within an oval border. This collectable piece is in excellent condition with a snug fitting grill and lid along with good hinges and it still retains its lovely, gilded interior. It measures 25mm x 19mm x 10mm.
