Georgian Silver Vinaigrette (1820)
This charming, antique, fine silver vinaigrette from the early 1800's, is in superb condition with nice clear hallmarks and still retains its original gilt interior. It was made in Birmingham, England in 1820 by silversmiths 'T. Simpson & Sons' (S&S) and has a small rectangular shape with lovely, hand engraved detail all-round, including a tiny, oval monogramed cartouche on the lid, surrounded with vines of leaves and flowers. The inner hinged grill has a very pretty cut-out and engraved floral pattern, and both the lid and grill fit snugly with hinges working well. It's hard to believe that this charming piece is over two hundred years old. It measures 25mm x 18mm x 10mm.
