Georgian Solid Silver Wine Coaster (1791)

 Antique 'George III' Silver Wine Coaster (1791) 

This late 1700's 'George III' solid silver wine coaster has a beautifully hand pierced and engraved gallery in a lovely neoclassical design with a scalloped rim and a turned hardwood base. Although the coaster is structurally sound, it sadly has damage on the silver gallery, where two small 'cut-out' details are missing. It was made in Birmingham in 1791 by 'Henry Chawner' (HC), and the armorial engraved in the cartouche is of a 'heron with a snake in its beak' (supposedly the 'Kinder' family crest). Other than the damage mentioned to the silver gallery it's in good condition with a green felt base. The coaster measures 12cm in diameter with a height of 4cm and weighs 160g.
