A review I found on the Net..
I have to say that when it first arrived in the mail I was a little put off by this product. The photo online had looked, well, bigger.
The disappointment did not last long though. This little knife has proven itself a brilliant companion (thus the name, I guess) and I especially appreciate it close to hand when sailing. The locking mechanism is far tougher then it looks, the partially serrated blade is superb (though kind of hard to sharpen. I advise purchasing the gerber sharpening tool for this type of serration at the same time you buy the knife). I have cut through kevlar and Vectran/Spectra boat ropes with ease, while the scissors in the un-scissor-like position make an excellent tool for assisting in loosening knots and splicing larger ropes (Just thread a loop of heavy fishing line through the hole in the end of the scissor handle and then use it to lassoo loose rope fibres and draw then into the body of the rope). The scissors excellent, though the folding is a little less then ideal and the tip of occassionaly rise up out of the body of the knife when folded, which has grabbed and sliced a trouser pocket on a couple of occassions.
The hole for a lanyard is also excellent (no point using a knife on a pitching yacht without one, as you may need to let go of the knife suddenly in order to grab hold of something to stop you going over). A nice lanyard also makes fishing this somewhat small knife out of a pocket much easier, it is a little "slippery" and does not leap to the hand without it.
Once open (easy!) and in hand, the little rubber inserts provide an excellent and secure hold and the knife does not suffer from twist or slip in the palm (even when wearing the thick-palmed boating gloves)
