GERMAN MILITARY AIR FORCE KAMPFFLIEGER LUFTWAFFE CHRONOGRAPH WATCH
This is one beautiful timepiece. Its size is impressive. Its dial easy to read at a glance and this is one watch you won’t find on everyone’s wrist!
This beautiful functioning Chronograph is reliable and accurate because of its battery powered 32,768 Hz OS20 state of the art High Quality Quartz movement.
This watch measures 43mm in diameter including the crown. This stunning beauty is approximately 11mm in thickness, and 48mm from lug tip to lug tip, and 20mm between the lugs.
The movement is Hack Setting which means when the crown is pulled out to it’s maximum position, all functions stop. A most necessary feature when synchronizing watches for military operations, and for setting it to split second timing!
Its case construction is Brushed Solid Stainless Steel for years of rugged durability. I find the coin edge bezel to be especially attractive. The Synthetic Sapphire Crystal is highly scratch resistant and is semi-domed. The Polished Stainless Steel screw down back is nicely engraved with “ Luftwaffe ” the “ German Iron Cross, ” and a designation of “ D1958.” The case is water resistant for normal wear, such as washing hands, jumping into the shower, etc.
The Dial show Arabic Numbers at all points except the 3, 9, and 6 o’clock positions. At those positions are chronograph registers. At the 3 o’clock position is a 24 hour dial, which corresponds with the luminescent easy to read hands and indicates hour of the day. The 6 o’clock position is a seconds hand, and the 9 o’clock position is a 60 minute chronograph timer. The chronograph feature is activated by pushing the top push button above the crown which starts the center red seconds/timing hand. To stop the chrono function one simply presses the same button again. Upon pressing the button located below the crown, all is reset and the chronograph timing hands all return to a neutral position or zero.
The black non-reflective dial with its large Arabic numbers shows the name “ KAMPFFLIEGER - OS20 – FLUGZEIT CHRONOGRAPH ”…which roughly translated in english means, “ Combat Pilot Flight Chronograph.” Above the six o’clock position and below the seconds track are the words, “ Basel Design. ”
This comes mounted on one heck of a heavy and rugged leather strap that just accentuates this rugged timepiece and sets the watch off beautifully. The strap has a heavy duty stainless steel buckle.
