Antique Smoking Head German Novelty Ashtray
This unusual, antique, German novelty porcelain ashtray, referred to as a smoking head, is in the form of a large, elongated head of a bald man with a big mouth and holes in his ears. The lit cigarette would rest on his large bottom lip while the smoke would come out of his ears. There's a verse that reads 'Down by the old Mill Stream' along with a musical note, under his chin. On the base there's a red stamped crown with the words 'CROWN, FINE, CERAMIC' that I couldn't trace. I've read this novelty ornament was made in Germany by 'Schafer & Vater'. It's in great condition and measures 5,5cm x 5cm, with a height of 13,5cm.
