Luftwaffe 1st pattern dagger, manufactured by Eickhorn (With regimental markings on crossguard and scabbard) also rare waffenamt stamping on blade.

Please note that shipping is normal post office but counter to conter overnight can be arranged for R110.00

In March 1935 the â€ÂÂÂÂÂœFliegerdolch” was introduced for wear by officers and senior NCO`s.It was based on a similar dagger worn by the German air sports association. (DLV)The grip has a wooden core with dark blue Morocco leather covering. The grooved grip has a triple silver coloured wire wrap. The solid nickel circular pommel features an inlaid brass disk with raised a â€ÂÂÂÂÂœsunwheel” swastika, as did the center of the crossguard, both obverse and reverse. These disks were silver plated as were the pommels with 4-5 microns of silver, the swastika was gold plated with 2-3 microns. Many think that the swastika is a brass insert which is not correct. The metal scabbard fittings, are nickel silver with 3-4 microns of silver plating. The dagger is 46 cm long and has stiletto style blade.Note that this blade has a Waffen amt stamping of a stick bird with a number â€ÂÂÂÂÂœ8” which means that this is a government issued dagger, on lease to the person using it.The waffen amt stamp is of the early style stick bird. This number is not seen very often as most of the time it is a â€ÂÂÂÂÂœ5”.Where there is no Waffen amt stamp, it is a personally owned dagger.Waffen-Amt: This mark was applied to government issued weaponry, and it indicates that the item concerned has been tested and accepted by the Ordnance Dept., as a suitable stock item for issueThe blade also has the â€ÂÂÂÂÂœEickhorn” manufacturers logo stamping. â€ÂÂÂÂÂœA squirell holding a sword”Under the crossguard is the lettering â€ÂÂÂÂÂœFlg.St.Fea37/19” These are property stampings of  Fliegerschule â€ÂÂÂÂÂœFlieger-Ersatz-Abteilung 5 (Fea 5)” which was an aviation replacement detachment based in Hanover. 1937 dagger number 19.

An FEA unit had the task to train young pilots, to create new units and to organise the replacement (pilots, observers, gunners, aircraft ect) for existing units.

The hanger rings are aluminum with an aluminum clip having the lettering â€ÂÂÂÂÂœGESH.GESCH.” and under that â€ÂÂÂÂÂœoLc” within a trapezium border.
