A 1950's German Model 53 helmet used by the Bundesgrennzschutz (West German Federal Border Guard). These helmets were the last of the "stahlhelms" and were modelled on the famous WW2 M40 helmets used by the Wehrmacht a few years earlier, the main difference being that the M40's had ventilation holes.  The underside of the brim is stamped "LS" (Linneman & Schnetzer) and "64" (size).  Original paint with light surface rust in places.  The inner is excellent.  Please note the absence of the chin strap.
