From German Southwest Africa, a kS98 Saw-Back Bayonet with Leather Grips issued to the South West African Kaiserliche Schutztruppe (German Imperial Colonial Troops). Made by in Germany by Erfurt in 1909. Comes with a matching steel scabbard.
Probably picked-up and taken home to Natal as a souvenir by a South African soldier after the GSWA Campaign of 1914-15 (some information is available on this, but the name of the soldier is just a good guess). Further information at Bayonets of the South West African Schutztruppe.
