From the InternetGIBSON MOKHACHANE was born in Clarens in the Free State Province of South Africa.  His experiences growing up included a mix of classical African rural life as well as the vibrant township life formed as a result of apartheid realities. Much of his painting and sculpture reflects his experiences in the South African township scene.  The vibrant colors and the irrepressibility of life are consistent themes to his work.  As a rapidly emerging artist, Gibson's work is featured in many of the exclusive galleries in South Africa.  His reputation is growing also in part because of his own Gibson Mokhachane Gallery in his birthplace of Clarens.
