These magnificent 'Bogota' Gladioli aren't just flowers; they are a statement. Their striking blooms, as seen in the accompanying image, boast an exquisite blend of soft coral, peach, and sun-kissed apricot tones, subtly highlighted with creamy yellow. Each tall, stately spike erupts with multiple large, trumpet-shaped flowers, creating an impressive vertical accent that demands admiration. You'll feel a sense of immense pride as these beauties elevate your garden's aesthetic, making every glance a moment of pure joy. 🧡

Why Gladioli 'Bogota' is Your Garden's Perfect Addition:

  • Vibrant, Sun-Kissed Blooms: Revel in the radiant coral-peach shades, bringing a touch of tropical warmth to your South African landscape. Each flower is a miniature masterpiece!

  • Stunning Vertical Impact: Watch these majestic plants soar, adding impressive height and structure to your garden design. They are perfect for dramatic backdrops or elegant focal points.

  • Ideal for South African Gardens: Gladioli thrive in our sunny climate. Plant them in spring (September to November) for a spectacular summer show, or in late winter (July to August) in frost-free regions for early blooms. You'll love how easily they settle into your local conditions.

  • Effortless Elegance: Despite their grand appearance, 'Bogota' Gladioli are surprisingly easy to grow, making them perfect for both seasoned gardeners and enthusiastic beginners. Experience the satisfaction of cultivating such magnificent blooms with minimal fuss.

  • Long-Lasting Cut Flowers: Bring the splendour indoors! These spectacular blooms make incredible additions to floral arrangements, filling your home with their cheerful presence for days on end. Feel the delight of creating your own stunning bouquets. 💐

Simple Care for Glorious Blooms:

Cultivating your 'Bogota' Gladioli is a rewarding experience. Follow these straightforward tips to ensure a thriving display:

  • Sunlight: Plant your corms in a spot that receives at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily. More sun equals more glorious blooms! 🌞

  • Soil: They prefer well-draining soil, rich in organic matter. A slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.0-7.0) is ideal. If your soil is heavy clay, amend it with compost to improve drainage. This ensures healthy root development.

  • Watering: Water regularly, especially during dry spells and when the plants are actively growing and flowering. Aim for consistently moist, but not waterlogged, soil. Feel confident knowing you're providing them with exactly what they need.💧

  • Support: Taller varieties may need staking to prevent their magnificent flower spikes from toppling over, especially in windy conditions. Give them a little support, and they will stand tall and proud for you.

  • Feeding: A balanced granular fertiliser applied at planting and again when flower spikes begin to emerge will encourage vigorous growth and abundant blooms. Nourish them, and they will flourish!

Don't miss the chance to infuse your South African garden with the captivating beauty of Gladioli 'Bogota'. Their vibrant colours and impressive stature will fill you with pride and bring a continuous sense of joy every time you step outside.

Flowering time: November - February
Active growth: December - April
Dormant: May August
Lifting time: July
Type: Corm
Mature height: 100cm
Planting depth: 3cm deep
Plant spacing: 15cm apart

Watering: Every 3-4 days when planted in the ground for 10 minutes

Position and soil
Gladioli look magnificent towards the back of a mixed perennial border. Groups of about 25 look best, although groups of 10 in single colours also make a bold statement. The soil should first be loosened to a depth of 20 cm. Hybrid gladioli like a compost-rich soil mix and need a full sun position to thrive. If they are planted where wind is a problem, they will need staking.

Further Care
Watering is very important and you must not allow the sub-soil to dry out. If you notice any harmful insects or fungal rust then you can treat it by spraying with an appropriate fungal spray.
