Glistering Deep Violet iolite Rock Egg The Viking Sun Stone or Compass Stone

THIS A GLISTERING DEEP VIOLET IOLITE ROCK EGG. AROUND 7.0X5.0CM IN SIZE. The name iolite comes from the Greek word ios, which means violet. 
 
This egg is polished from natural and untreated Iolite. This is a deep blue/indigo greyish black stone with crackly veins and glistering white Quartz patches. The egg is polished smooth but retains deep surface craters and veins. Each egg is unique.

IOLITE:
Legend says that Vikings used iolite to navigate by slicing it into thin filters to locate the sun on cloudy days. Iolite's pleochroism, or the way it breaks light differently from different angles, acts like a polarizing filter to cancel out clouds and haze. 
Iolite is a silicate mineral that contains traces of magnesium, iron, titanium, calcium, sodium, and potassium. Iolite is found in countries such as Brazil, Canada, India, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka. Iolite is also known as "water sapphire" because of its deep blue color.
