Offered for sale is an attractive medium sized , well potted Globe studio ceramic bowl made in Pretoria circa 1940's. This is a hand made item heavy and thick walled thrown on a potters wheel and glazed in a vibrant mottled and streaked turquoise/sea green glaze with flashes and accents of cobalt blue and rust red. The bowl has a shallow concave foot ring the base of which is glazed in an opaque flat white. The shape of the bowl is elegant and understated with a deep well, broad open top and a slight scallop in the outer wall of the bowl which creates a subtle rounded rythm in the shape. The glaze is particularly good with a vibrant and mottled sea green colour and pooling of the glaze at the well of the bowl with glaze runs and streaks to create an animated highly aesthetic effect. The outer rim of the bowl has a dark inky blue glaze accent which bleeds into the green .The dimensions of the Globe bowl are : width at the top 19.10 cm ; width of the base 11.5 cm ; height 8cm
