While many mosasaurs were built for slicing fish, Globidens evolved powerful, rounded, almost acorn-shaped teeth designed for crushing. These domed teeth allowed it to break through the hard shells of ammonites, bivalves, and even small marine turtles. This feeding strategy reduced competition with other apex predators and demonstrates remarkable ecological adaptation during the Late Cretaceous.
This authentic tooth was discovered in the phosphate-rich deposits of Oued Zem, a world-famous fossil locality. Teeth in this condition are increasingly difficult to obtain due to intensive mining operations in the region.
This is more than a fossil it is a genuine relic of a specialised marine predator that thrived shortly before the mass extinction that ended the age of dinosaurs.
