This gorgeous English vintage piece is created in 9ct yellow gold. With an interesting chevron design, the deep 'V' of the ring head features 5 x round cut deep blue sapphires, alternating with 4 x round cut fire opals, all claw set. The strong colour contrast creates an eye-catching piece. The simple 9ct yellow gold shank bears a number of hallmarks. It is a true piece of vintage English jewellery and unfortunately some of the hallmarks have been worn away making a true reading of the full pedigree something of a challenge. I can make out the jeweller's signature, the 375 hallmark indicating 9ct gold, and some of the assay mark, which looks to be London. I in fact acquired the ring in an antqiue jeweller in Birmingham, the Jewllery Quarter of England. It is quite a solid little piece, weighing 2,16 grams and measures 18mm across x 12mm long x 2mm above the finger.  It sits particularly snug on the finger and with the sapphire and opal combination, is unusual. I haven't come across this particular stone combination in a chevron design before.
