GLORIOUS HONEY HUE BALTIC AMBER SOLID STERLING SILVER FRINGE NECKLACE. 11 grams

It is an increasingly difficult struggle to find good vintage amber pieces! This piece has a particularly splendid design and the amber is of a particularly bright honey hue. Each amber piece has been bezel sety into a solid sterling silver frame, that hugs the amber and raises it slightly. The back of each silver frame segment is completely solid on the back resulting in quite a nice weighty piece of silver jewellery. The horizontal bar-like part of the fringe segment is solid, each frame joined to the next. This forms the main structure from which a fringe of five strands falls. The longest strand is 43 mm and the shortest strand 18 mm. Each framed piece of amber on the vertical strands is separated by a link, meaning that the whole necklace moves beautifully. The snake chain (sterling silver) is attache to the end of each end of the solid horizontal section of the pendant frame and fastens around the back with a good solid closure mechanism. It is big enough to earn the word "splendid" but is beautifully made, dainty and feminine in design and very much fine jewellery. Vintage from beyond the shores of South Africa but I suspect not more than 20 years old. The condition is excellent with barely a buff mark. The combination of colours with the brightness of the amber and the white sheen of the silver is lovely.
