This vintage piece was obtained from a vintage dealer in Birmingham, and features 5 x rich, deep wine-red garnets set in 9ct yellow gold. The 3 central garnets are oval-faceted, with the centre garnet the largest. The gemstones on either end are even smaller and round-faceted, and all are claw set with very pretty detail on the galley and the shoulders. The shank is narrow, thickening somewhat on the shoulders with the decorative detail, supporting the 19mm across x 7mm wide ring head. Openwork beneath the gemstones allows light to maximise the clarity and sparkle of the garnets and to emphasise the beautiful faceting. The piece weighs a good 2,91 grams and bears a number of hallmarks: the 375 hallmark indicating 9ct gold, the Birmingham Assay mark, the jeweller's signature and the date hallmark for 1986. The ring is beautifully crafted and positively regal in colour.
