This glorious and showy vintage piece from England, is crafted in 9ct yellow gold, featuring a large (11 carat!) round-faceted natural lemon quartz held on an extended, ornate claws a splendid 12mm above the finger. The colour is magnificent, an almost lime green, beautifully enhanced by the masterful faceting. The impressive gemstone is matched by the majesty of the detail on the claws - they are scalloped, each semi-circle ending in a small bauble, with a matching bauble on the lowest curve of the semi-circle, and between each claw. The 17,6mm diameter ring head is held on a slender gold shank, the underneath bearing decorative grooves that radiate outwards. The piece weighs a hefty 9,5 grams and bears the 375 hallmark for 9ct gold, the jeweller signature, the London assay and the date mark for 1977. The ring has evidence of is 44 years with gentle buff marks on the metal and little nibbles on the gemstone - not visible with the naked eye but there to be seen with a magnifying glass. It is a very unusual piece of English gold jewellery. Definitely something special to wear and a collectable piece. I have had the piece assessed and valued by an independent jeweller at R16'000; a certificate to that effect will accompany the ring.
