God of War III is a fast, brutal, and cinematic hack-and-slash experience that pushes the PS3 hardware to its limits. Combat is fluid, responsive, and satisfyingly violent, with Kratos Blades of Exile offering excellent range and speed. Enemy encounters are constant and well-designed, with boss fights standing out as the games strongest element. Platforming and puzzle segments break up the action without slowing the pace. Picking up immediately after the events of God of War II, the game follows Kratos final assault on Mount Olympus to seek vengeance on Zeus and the gods. The story is epic, rage-filled, and packed with mythology. Although Kratos remains single-minded and furious, the narrative delivers satisfying closure to the trilogy. The pacing is strong, with almost no filler, and the campaign lasts around 810 hours depending on difficulty.

The game is primarily a single-player experience focused on its cinematic campaign. Once completed, players can unlock Challenge of Olympus mode, various costumes, and higher difficulty levels.
