Scarce 1973 book - Belonged to a school library before and was much used - Thus not in a very good condition but still very readable - 140 pg.  -  Won the 1972 Whitbread Children's Book Award. >>>   The Diddakoi was originally published in 1972 - Set in England, it features an orphan traveller or Romani girl, seven-year-old Kizzy Lovell, who faces persecution, grief, and loss in a hostile, close-knit, village community.   >>>   A soothing story, gentle, but not too sweet.  I found it particularly pleasant in this restless times full of revolutions and threatening wars.
