GODETIA AZALEAFLORA DOUBLE MIX – GODETIA GRANDIFLORA

This plant is one of the showiest available with an incredibly long lasting show of flowers, from early summer through to first frosts.

Azaleaflora has large semi-double flowers, in shades from pale pink to vibrant crimsons reds and a bushy habit. The petals have a quality which is very distinctive: a satiny sheen together with a slight crumpled texture.

The lateral branches all produce five to six blooms in a cluster on top of the plant. It is perfect for use in the border as well as for use as a cut flower. Its stems are strong and the plants are very productive, with yields in the order of fifteen high quality stems per plant.

Drought tolerant and disease resistant. One of the best and most satisfactory annuals.

Sowing:

Sow in spring or autumn. A sandy soil with good drainage is optimal. Surface sow and cover with a very fine sprinkling of compost, they need light to germinate. Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged at all times. Overwatering will quickly cause root rot and will kill the plant. Seeds germinate in 22 to 38 days.
When 7-8 true leaves appear, pinch out the tops and plant into beds at 25-30cm spacing.

Cultivation:
Godetia require more water to begin germination but then thrives on very little water once established.
Feeding is rarely needed but a complete plant food can be applied in spring, as growth begins. Use a Dutch hoe to weed around plants as required.
