Napoléon III, also known as Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte (1808-1873) was the first President of the French Republic and the only emperor of the Second French Empire.
He holds the unusual distinction of being both the first President and the last Monarch of France.
This 1866 gold 20 Francs, depicting Napoleon III on the reverse, was struck at the Paris mint (“A” mintmark) with the anchor privy mark (indicating that it was minted between 1855 and 1879).
It weighs a hefty 6.4516g (much heavier than a Half-Sovereign) and was minted in .9000 fine gold:- a truly stunning coin in better than extremely fine condition.
