Rare’s Nintendo 64 classic is brought into the modern day with this reimagining of James Bond’s gaming highlight.

Originally released in the mid-90s, GoldenEye 007 is considered one of the benchmarks of modern first-person shooters, giving players a well-paced single player campaign alongside a robust multiplayer mode that spawned countless imitators. GoldenEye 007 on Wii is a faithful remake of the classic shooter, keeping the spirit of the original intact while bringing a number of its features into the modern age.

Replacing original GoldenEye Bond, Pierce Brosnan, is Daniel Craig, pushing players through an updated storyline written by Bruce Feirstein, screenwriter of the original film. Iconic scenes from the original game make a welcome return, including the facility and the streets of St. Petersburg. GoldenEye was always best known for its multiplayer component, however, and once again four players can battle one another in split screen matches. A host of Bond characters and villains are up for selection, as are game tweaks and modifiers to keep matches varied.

GoldenEye 007 manages to faithfully update one of the best shooters of all time without losing its sense of character, offering the same addictive multiplayer that many players have grown up with.
