Gorgeous Antique 'Carlton Ware' Biscuit Barrel (Camellia)
This lovely, antique 'Carlton Ware' china biscuit barrel or cookie jar, with silver-plated on brass mounts, swing handle and lid, was made in 'Stoke 0n Trent', Staffordshire, England. It is beautifully painted in soft colours, in a floral pattern called 'Camellia' from a range of pottery known as 'Blush Ware' which was introduced in the late 1800's by 'Wiltshaw & Robinson' (W&R) Carlton Ware. It is stamped on the base with the early 'W&R Crown' mark in blue with 'CARLTON WARE' underneath, dating this piece between 1894 and 1926. Other than some wear to the silver-plating, it's in great condition. The biscuit barrel stands 16,5cm high without handle, has a diameter of 14cm at its widest, and weighs 865g.
