This gorgeous piece has an ornate design, featuring 12 x deep golden citrines, all claw set in 9ct yellow gold. The slender gold shank forms a crossover design, where each side curves around the central gemstone, curling protectively around the top and the bottom of the 8,5mm long oval cut citrine. The shank forks horizontally on the shoulders to hold the cage-like structure that holds the citrines. Four 6 x 4mm pear-faceted citrines flank the central stone, 2 on either side. Three x 2,75mm round cut and four x 1,65mm round cut citrines are interspersed in the openwork between the pear-faceted citrines. The colouring on the citrines varies in shades between old gold, pale yellow and a marmalade colour, the expert faceting maximising the sparkle. The ring head measures 18mm long x 17mm wide. The piece weighs a solid 4,12 gram, bears the Birmingham Assay mark, the jeweller's signature, the "Africa mined" gemstones hallmark, and the date 2008. I have had the piece examined and evaluated by an independent jeweller at R18'500, and a certificate to that effect will accompany the piece.
