GLORIOUS VINTAGE GARNET AND YELLOW GOLD RING.   TRUE COLLECTABLE. *JEWELLER EVALUATION R15'000*

Something rather special for those who enjoy collectable vintage pieces. This gorgeous handcrafted piece features a cluster of round-faceted Mozambique-mined garnets in a deep burgundy colour. The ring head has an interesting double level design, the lower level almost flat on the cage-like galley that supports it. A row of 17 x 3mm diameter garnets runs around the lower level. A soft dome rises from centre of the ring head, holding 20 x 2,7mm diameter garnets in two additional rows - a lower one of 12 garnets,  and an upper one of 8 that encircles a larger central garnet which provides the focal point, sitting a splendid 8mm above the finger. The garnets are all claw set with the claws all burnished over and polished, so that they don't stand proud of the gemstones, creating interesting, organic yellow-gold shapes between the rich, port-wine gemstones. The quite solid shank supports the 22mm long x 18mm wide ring head, the galley decorated with beautiful curlicues and openwork. This is a seriously old ring, there are hallmarks, but sadly they are impossible to decipher. I comes from a favourite antique jeweller in the London area. The piece is most likely antique, not just vintage, but I can't give a date! This is a solid piece of jewellery, weighing a hefty 6,6grams. I have had the ring assessed and evaluated by an independent jeweller at R15'000, and a 'certificate for insurance purposes" to that effect will accompany the piece. It comes in a quality ring box from England. This one has stories to tell from a long time ago! A beautiful collectable that you will enjoy wearing.
