Offered for sale is a striking and bold earthenware jug /carafe made by the Dutch ceramic manufactory Zuid Holland aka PZH Plateelbakkerij Zuid Holland in the Netherlands and dating to the late 1940's or early 1950's. The carafe is in the hard to find Roma Royal pattern a dramatic combination of black and white abstract designs resembling interlocking French curves. This is a slip cast earthenware item made from a buff coloured clay hand painted in a satin black, and matte white glaze with gilt highlights and borders. The base has hand painted marks including the factory name Zuid Holland , Gouda district of manufacture, the pattern name Roma Royal, serial number for the form/shape and painters marks. Postage is R100 via Postnet or R120 for courier delivery to major cities in South Africa.
