Gould "Annie" analyser for electric motors

"ANNIE" HERMETIC UNIT AND COMPONENT ANALYZER

MODEL A-12X
220-250 VAC, 50 cycle.

This unit is used to test AC motors such as are used in boreholes,swimming pools, and sealed units in fridges and freezers.

Besides measuring performance and the componenets, it can start the motor with its own starter components and can attempt to free stuck motors.

OBJECTIVES OF USE
PURPOSE
1. To check for continuity, shorts and grounds of unit windings.
2. To identify start, run, and common terminals.
3. To start unit without relay, control, or capacitor.
4. To free stuck or frozen unit.
5. To check unit capacitors for shorts, leaks, grounds or open;
6. To read capacitor in MFD.
7. To check unit relay and identify its pick-up and drop-out voltage.
8. To measure amperage, voltage, and ohms.
9. To replace unit's start capacitor temporarily.
10. To check and test all types of electrical appliances.

NOTE: Model A-12X contains a neon power indicator lamp that will identify 220 volt power by a bright glow. Whenever Model A-12X is connected to any power source, the indicator lamp comes on automatically, if ohmmeter switch is in power position.
To connect Model A-12X to 220 volt power, a standard 220 volt plug should be installed.

CARE AND HANDLING OF YOUR INSTRUMENT
Unlike any of the mechanical tools you may own or work with, an electrical testing instrument must be treated with care and respect in order for it to provide accurate and long service.
Dirt, grease, and moisture can easily contaminate the switches, controls and meters - making them perform erratically. Common sense will tell you to keep your instrument clean and dry so as to avoid these problems.
Your instrument should be transported and handled with care, as bouncing, vibration and shock can damage meter movements or other more sensitive parts. Keep your "ANNIE" in a protected place where it will be out of harms way. Batteries and fuses should be checked periodically as well as the external condition of the wiring.
CAUTIONS IN USING
Electricity can be hazardous when not understood and this instrument is only intended for use by qualified personnel who fully understand the electrical operation of the equipment they are servicing. Be sure that all power is disconnected from the equipment you are testing and that power to the instrument is not energized until all connections are made in accordance with these instructions. Do not exceed our electrical ratings as this could be dangerous and automatically voids the warranty.
RATINGS
The model A-12X Analyzer uses a buss ABC 20 amp fuse and is designed for use on units up to 25 amps 220-250 VAC. Maximum test period 2 minutes.
 

The unit works well and we have been using it to test 1.1kw borehole motors.
