He married Lorna Helene Louch in 1925. He was a film producer and reporter. His son is also a mystery writer. - His series characters were Detective Sergeant Robert Mather, Superintendent William Stevens, Inspector Pierre Allain and Theodore I Terhune, a bookseller.
