Grahamstown in Early Photographs, by Frank van der Riet. Published by David Philip Publisher, 1974. First Edition, First Printing. Hardcover with Dust Jacket, 112pp. ISBN 0949968277.
Condition: Good / DJ Good.
Upper and lower edges the boards, crown and heel of spine heavily rubbed, but not scuffed or chipped. Lower corners bumbed, rubbed. Heavy, blotchy patches of fading, age-toning and darkening of both front and rear panels. Title and author name still bright in gold lettering. Damp-stain to lower edges of front and back panel, with some white from inside of cover rubbed off on the cloth. Faint damp-stain to upper corner of front panel with a small isolated brown stain to top edge.
Maps on endpapers age-toned, foxed. Name or price scratched out in black marker. Light damp-induced wrinkle noticeable in the lower margins throughout, but no sign of a stain and no moldy smell. Very light, uniform age-toning of text block, but clean: no foxing, no notes, no underlining or highlighting, no marginalia. Binding tight, text complete: No loose or missing pages, no tears.
Dust Jacket shelf-worn around the edges and slightly soiled. May be age-toned, and perhaps faded around edges, although difficult to tell due to use of an old photograph on cover. A faint circular stain on back cover and a couple of small brown stains. No large tears or heavy staining; small closed tears around the edges only, with some scuffing and chipping at the extremities of the spine and the hinges of front and back flaps. Inside age-toned and foxed, with water stain to lower edge at spine, a faint circular stain and two small brown stains.
