A reference book of this style rides or dies on its figures and boy does this one ride. First, a word of advice is to read the written portions for each battle and then going back and reading the information, maps, and drawings.
Speaking of the drawings, this is absolutely the linchpin of the book. Great quality and the descriptors really allow you to understand what is going on and what is being depicted. The maps (which vary from standard to topographical to others) are very well depicted and described for someone who can have trouble following combat maps in other works. The battles chosen are good and varied . Information is good as well, overall a great and short look at some WWI 'highlights' for you to touch up your knowledge or look at for the first time.
Ive read this book on and off for over a year! I feel like Ive learned so many things about the First World War. The writer is kind of sassy about some of the battles and leadership.
