Tags: Exploring British Army armour. The UK which invented the tank and was the first nation to deploy one in battle during the First World War. In fact the name tank originates from concealing the early machines from aircraft under giant water tanks. We have worked with the MoD and the Tank Museum in Dorset to identify eight very influential British tanks and armored vehicles, from the most successful pioneering tank of world war I, through second world war and cold war vehicles, and to encompass different roles such as specialist bridge laying vehicles and reconnaissance light tanks. Britain has been at the forefront of innovation in tank design and engineering, with some designs exported to every country in the commonwealth. We will culminate with the brand-new Ajax class of vehicle which is currently being deployed. We depict these vehicles in a variety of settings and operations and show the evolution across a century of British innovation.
