Remember the “Bible Stamp” of 1987?
It had a face value of 40c. Withdrawn by the SA Post Office. Now catalogued at R7000, changing hands at R3500+ each
So can this be the next one?
This stamp was due to be released for circulation on 30 January 2009. It was withdrawn before the issue date, either to be released at a later date or never.
The sheet clearly bears the date 2009-01-30. Surely, the re-issued sheets will bear a new date?
Or will it never be issued? This is a list of (State) Presidents of the Republic of South Africa.
- 31 May 1961 - 1 June 1967: Charles Robberts Swart
- 1 June 1967 - 10 April 1968: Jozua Francois Naude (acting)
- 10 April 1968 - 9 April 1975: Jacobus Johannes ('Jim') Fouché
- 19 April 1975 - 21 August 1978: Nicolaas Johannes Diederichs
- 21 August 1978 - 10 October 1978: Marais Viljoen (acting)
- 10 October 1978 - 4 June 1979: Balthazar Johannes (BJ) Vorster
- 4 June 1979 - 3 September 1984: Marais Viljoen
- 3 September 1984 - 15 August 1989: Pieter Willem (PW) Botha
- 15 August 1989 - 10 May 1994: Frederik Willem (FW) de Klerk
- 10 May 1994 - 16 June 1999: Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela
- 16 June 1999 - 24 September 2008: Thabo Mvuyelwa Mbeki
No stamps were issued for Naude or Viljoen in his first, “caretaker”, role. Is Motlanthe the same?
Or the better question: Can you afford to miss this fantastic investment opportunity of a sheet already changing hands at over R2000?
