Green Hubbard Squash Green Hubbard Squash was originally a wild squash variety introduced to the United States from the West Indies in 1798. It was primarily grown in small numbers by professional gardeners in Massachusetts who knew the value of rare squash varieties at the time. In the 1840's, that famous American seedsman, J.H. Gregory secured seeds of this winter squash variety from Elizabeth Hubbard of Marblehead, Massachusetts, which Gregory later introduced to the American seed trade under the name of "Hubbard Squash". This lovely 18th century heirloom winter squash variety has been very popular with gardeners and squash lovers ever since. Green Hubbard Squash produces long, sturdy prolific vines that produce a good crop of 5 to 10 kg, rounded squash that are approximately 30 to 40 cm in length and 20 to 30 cm in diameter with a stunning green-bronze color.
