The two volumes are lavishly illustrated with superb hand-coloured plates which show that they were printed by Nuttall, Fisher & Dixon, Liverpool, July 1816, whilst the Preface shows the date, London, Jan. 7th 1824.
We do know that Thomas Green was
an eminent physician practicing somewhere in the late 1700's in Britain, and, that he took copious notes from the country folk on various remedies used by themselves and their parents.
It is also interesting to note that many of the illustrations in Green's Herbal were used by the Portmeiron Pottery company
The two volumes are in fair shape, with just the odd loose page. Foxing is a bit of an issue in the first few pages which is relatively heavy , whilst less foxing occurs towards the centre of the volumes.
The books measure 27.5cm x 22.0cm x 6.0cm
As I am not a boffin with the values of books, I did approach, and, sent the photos (above) to Clive Moss at Bloomsbury Auctions, Britain and his reply is shown below -

Dear Hilmar,
Further to having your e-mail directed to me I would estimate your book at 450-600 pounds. This would depend on being complete.
I would be happy to have this for auction.
I look forward to your reply.
Regards,
Clive Moss
