"Gremlins" is a 1984 black comedy horror film directed by Joe Dante, featuring a mix of humor and chaos as mischievous creatures wreak havoc on a small town during Christmas. For Christmas, his father, Rand Peltzer, a struggling inventor, buys him a unique pet called a Mogwai from a mysterious shop in Chinatown. The shopkeeper warns Rand about three crucial rules for caring for the Mogwai: keep it away from bright light, never get it wet, and never feed it after midnight. Despite these warnings, chaos ensues when Billy accidentally spills water on the Mogwai, named Gizmo, causing it to multiply. The new creatures, unlike Gizmo, are mischievous and malevolent, particularly one named Stripe, who leads the group. As the night progresses, Billy's failure to adhere to the rules results in the Mogwai transforming into destructive Gremlins, which wreak havoc on the town during Christmas Eve, leading to hilarious and terrifying situations
